1. About SPLINTR

SPLINTR (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is an AI-powered video curation service that helps users explore YouTube content from multiple perspectives. SPLINTR is not affiliated with YouTube or Google LLC.

2. YouTube API Services

SPLINTR uses the YouTube Data API v3 to provide features including video search, liked video access, subscription management, and playlist creation. By using these features, you are also bound by:

3. Data We Collect

YouTube Account Data (when you sign in with Google)

  • OAuth access token (stored server-side in Firestore, expires in ~60 minutes)
  • Your YouTube liked videos list (read on demand, not stored permanently)
  • Your YouTube subscriptions list (read on demand, not stored permanently)
  • Your YouTube playlists (read on demand; Watch Later videos cached in Firestore for your account)
  • Your Google profile name and email address (for account identification)

Usage Data

  • Search queries you enter (stored in your personal search history in Firestore)
  • Videos you rate or like within SPLINTR
  • Playlists you create and publish to YouTube
  • Aggregate API quota usage (no personal identifiers)

4. How We Use Your Data

  • To display your liked videos, subscriptions, and playlists within SPLINTR
  • To create YouTube playlists on your behalf when you request it
  • To save videos you like within SPLINTR to your personal library
  • To save your search history so you can revisit past sessions
  • To manage your SPLINTR account and preferences

We do not sell, share, or transfer your YouTube data to any third parties. We do not use your YouTube data for advertising.

5. Data Storage

Your data is stored in Google Firestore (Firebase), secured by per-user Firestore security rules. Only you can read or write your own data. OAuth tokens are stored server-side only and are never exposed to the browser after the initial sign-in.

SPLINTR does not download, store, or cache YouTube video files.

6. Revoking Access

You can revoke SPLINTR's access to your YouTube account at any time by visiting:

https://myaccount.google.com/permissions

After revoking access, SPLINTR will no longer be able to read your YouTube data or perform actions on your behalf.

7. Data Retention

Your search history and playlist data are retained until you delete your SPLINTR account or manually clear your history. OAuth tokens expire automatically after ~60 minutes and are refreshed only when you are actively using the App.
